Usually, there are three types of eye specialists. Each provides different services and care to the users. The level of training and skill of each specialist is different. Here we will define these three types of specialists:
1) Optometrist
Optometrists deliver first vision care to the users. These specialists provide various services like testing, correction, diagnosis, treatment, and changes in eyesight. However, their working procedure is:
- Providing eye exams and tests of visions.
- Determine the problems and causes of the eyes.
- Also, provide suitable and prescribed lenses when necessary.
- If there is an eye problem then they also provide prescribed medicines.
- Surgical procedures are also included for any serious condition.
- Provides better eye vision
2) Optician
Firstly, opticians are not able to diagnose or treat any eye conditions. Usually, they are only technicians to provide vision-related devices such as:
- Designable lenses and frames for eyes
- Also, provide contact lenses
- Further devices to improve the eyesight of the users
To deliver fit and right visual aids, Opticians always take prescriptions and advice from ophthalmologists or optometrists. The reason is that opticians are not highly trained and they are unable to treat the eye condition.
3) Ophthalmologist
The services provided by ophthalmologists are similar to optometrists. They also, provide suitable contact lenses and eyeglasses to improve vision clarity. However, ophthalmologists also help to:
- Provide complete diagnosis and treatment for all kinds of eye problems.
- Do the surgical procedure to the eye.
- Examine the causes and treatment for the eyesight and eye condition scientifically.
Conclusion
Above are the three eye doctor specialists to provide the best services for eye conditions, vision, and eyesight. If you have only vision or eyesight issues then you must contact an optician. In case of any eye problems or issues, you must contact optometrists or ophthalmologists. They will provide better assistance for your eye problems.
